As part of our NC State Park Passport Adventures and my general love for hiking we took a trip to the mountains this past weekend. We arrived at Hanging Rock State Park at around 7:30 am on Saturday and decided that the only way we would make it up the Hanging Rock Trail was to start our adventures there.

This trail is listed as “moderate” on the map but was quite challenging with three kids and the freezing cold weather (it was about 34 degrees or so when we headed out).
Well worth the trip up though – and my absolute favorite part of the weekend.
After the hike up the mountain, we checked out the visitor center, got our passport stamps and headed back out onto the trails.
We visited three of the parks waterfalls including – Window Falls, Upper Cascades and Hidden Falls as well as spent some time fishing in the beautiful man-made lake.
This is a beautiful park and we plan to take another trip later this year.
Until the next adventure………..
